Notice Regarding Stray Intake Services – Walk-In Wait Times

We kindly advise citizens that our stray intake services are currently experiencing high demand. As a result, walk-in visitors may encounter extended wait times.

To help us serve you more efficiently, we recommend you schedule an appointment when possible or explore alternative options, such as Foster to Finder. Our team is committed to ensuring the well-being of every animal and appreciates your patience and understanding during peak periods.

Thank you for your compassion and support in helping us care for our community’s animals. If you have any questions or need guidance, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to help.

Finder to Foster

We are happy to announce the August 2025 launch of SASA's Finder to Foster Program, allowing finders of stray dogs within our jurisdiction the possibility of entering SASA's program without having to stay at the shelter. This means that the dog will be reviewed by staff, given intake vaccinations, microchipped, and posted online for owner reunification. More importantly, this increases the likelihood that the pet will be returned home and can wait for that moment on the couch (if allowed!), NOT a kennel. If interested in an expedited Finder to Foster appointment, please call 209-558-7369 for more information or arrive as a walk-in!

Appointments

Can't commit to fostering at this time? No worries! An appointment is the next best thing and allows SASA to prioritize your arrival over other animal drop-off's. Please schedule your appointment here: Stray Dog & Cat Intake Appointment
